Dr Carl Meyer
Hailing from Pretoria, Dr Carl Meyer's path to medicine was ignited by an unwavering passion. He initially started his career with a BSc in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Pretoria but ultimately followed his heart to Stellenbosch University, where he earned his MBChB in 2014.
His medical journey was enriched by diverse experiences, from serving at 2 Military Hospital and the Gustrow Community Health Center to earning a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care.
Dr Meyer's extensive exposure, including stints in emergency centres across Cape Town and five years on cruise ships, cultivated his holistic approach to patient care — emphasising the importance of chronic care, mental health and geriatric medicine.
Dr Riya Rughubar
Dr Riya Rughubar was born and spent her early childhood in Durban before relocating to Cape Town. Her quest for medical excellence began at Stellenbosch University, graduating with an MBChB in 2014. Dr Rughubar developed a keen interest in emergency medicine during her internship at Tygerberg Hospital and community service in Mitchell’s Plain Hospital which culminated in her pursuing a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care.
Her career path, enriched by experiences in various hospitals in the Western Cape and aboard cruise ships for two years, led her to a deep-seated passion for holistic care. Dr Rughubar brings a compassionate and comprehensive approach to general practice at Meybar Medical, specialising in paediatrics, women's health, and mental health.
Together, Drs Meyer and Rughubar are the pillars of Meybar Medical, each contributing their unique expertise and vision to create a practice that is truly dedicated to the health and wellbeing of their patients at every stage of life.
